We made it to Nauvoo

We finally made it to Nauvoo late at night. The main road that you use to get to Nauvoo was closed and so we had to go almost an extra hour north to Iowa and then down into Nauvoo. Later we found out it was because the road was flooded. We stayed at a place called Camp Nauvoo. It's owned by the reorganized church but you can tell everyone there is pretty much LDS. The grounds keeper was very nice and respectful. He said "the only thing he has a problem with is that they never open the windows of the temple and look out. You have the best veiw of the valley right there and you don't take advantage of it." I did look out the star windows when I was in there because they aren't covered and it was very pretty.

This is one of the original sunstones from the Nauvoo Temple. The reorganized church has one as well that is falling apart. I believe there is one more but I don't know where it's at.

They have these flowers growing all over the church grounds. I wish I could grow them here.

We went on an Oxen ride while we there. Jaden thought that was pretty cool. We also went on a horse wagon ride. That was horrible. Natalia screamed the whole time. I felt so bad for everyone else and eventually they let Tyson off with her and she fell asleep instantly.

These animals are HUGE! Jaden was a little scared to touch it but eventually got the courage with a little help from Lexi.

It was so cool to go on an oxen ride because I learned so much. Ox don't have to be driven like a team of horses. You walk beside them and give them verbal commands and they follow you. It was a little nerve racking at first beacause what if they decided to take off. But the missionaries said that they are very calm animals and couldn't hurt a fly.
We went to many rebuilt buildings all over Nauvoo and the family center where they teach you how to make differant pioneer things. Lexi and I decided out of all the things we missed out of during that time were the bussel ovens. They are so cool and make bread perfectly. When I'm rich and build my own how I will make sure I have one in my house. (That will never happen)
I didn't pictures of all the buildings because they aren't originals and they are cool but only in person. They would just all be the same if I took pictures.

Hi,

We don't know each other, just stumbled across your blog, but I wanted to let you know that the other sun stone from the temple is in the Smithsonian, in the National Museum of American History.

Thanks for sharing your trip, the pictures are beautiful!
