Teacher Job Cuts

As many of you know Tyson and I are both teachers in our area. Tyson is full time and I am part time. I love being part time because it's more of a hobby than anything else and I can be home with my family. As far as we know I still have my position at my school and will have it. My district has allready let those people not returning know they don't have a job next year. However, Tyson might not have a job next year. They are trying to get him a place in the district but it isn't 100% going to happen. It all depends on whether he can pass the basic math praxis exam on Saturday. We need your prayers. Right now we would like to stay here and get a little more of our debt taken care of before we move. With that said, we will move where we have to so if you hear of jobs in social studies/math we would love to hear about them. Especially if they are in Oregon or Boise area. Please pray that we will know what to do and if we have to move that opportunities will open up.
This is extremely hard for me right now and don't really want to talk much about it. I love my job and if we move I know that I probably won't find another part time music position. I have worked really hard to get the choirs to the point that I have and want to watch them as they grow into the huge program I envision. I know that is extremely selfish but right now I can't help it. I am really struggling with the situation and have alot of opinions about it, and they aren't positive. I know I should be more positive but when your the one suffering from other peoples poor decisions it's really hard to see the good. I think my biggest fear is that I won't be able to give my children the kind of life they deserve. Right now that isn't much and it's ok but I don't want it to become less. Anyway, please keep us in your prayers.

I couldn't imagine working on a choir, and getting them to that point that you are finally envisioning, and then have to leave htem, and wonder if they just go down the drain, or if someoen else picks up where you left off, or shows you up- etc. So awful- I'm so sorry- I wish I had some great advice for you- but don't feel bad for feeling sad, that would be a hard thing to go through.

I will keep my ears open for anything here in the Treasure Valley, but things are pretty bleak here right now. My district is cutting 26 certified positions (and we are a small district with only one high school). Pretty much all category 1 and category 2 teachers are out of a job. I am barely luck having made it to category 3 last year. I can completely relate right now though. With Tate finishing his masters this month and is starting to look for a teaching position, there just aren't any out there right now. You will be in our thoughts and prayers! We're having a fast tomorrow, want to join in??

It's crazy! I was excited to finish school... now it's a real downer not knowing if it's going to pay off. Good luck. If you see any art teaching positions in your searches, let me know.
